The vehicle soundproofing material from DETOUR LAB is based on a three-layer composite structure. The outer face consists of a heat-resistant laminated aluminum film. The 2 mm high-density butyl rubber core layer absorbs vibrations and blocks sound transmission thanks to its low air permeability. The back is coated with a high-adhesion acrylic adhesive—no additional product is required for installation.

Beyond reducing road noise and body vibrations, the material provides thermal insulation by reflecting heat from the engine and floor, resistance to moisture and splashes, and fire performance suitable for use inside a vehicle.
Installation
Installation takes place in four steps: cleaning and degreasing the surface, cutting to the desired shape, removing the protective film, then applying with pressure. A roller tool is recommended to ensure adhesion on curved areas (not included).

The perfect duo with Thinsulate SM600L
The two materials address distinct problems and naturally complement each other. DETOUR LAB butyl is applied directly to the metal and stops vibrations at the source—road rumble, body resonance, and low-frequency engine noise. 3M Thinsulate SM600L then takes over on two fronts: acoustically, by absorbing mid and high frequencies such as wind noise and whistling, and thermally. Its microfibers create an insulating barrier that significantly slows heat exchange between the cabin and the outside—an advantage in summer for limiting overheating, as well as in winter for retaining heat and reducing the load on the heating system. One dampens the structure; the other insulates against sound and cold. Together, they cover the full acoustic and thermal spectrum where either one alone reaches its limits.
